Creatures of the Soul

Aris Moore & Andres Anza
Scope Art Show Miami Beach 2024

This two-person show brought together the distinctive visions of Aris Moore and Andrés Anza, inviting viewers into a whimsical yet deeply human world.

Presented for the first time in large-format, Aris Moore’s drawings marked a milestone moment in her career. Based in New Hampshire, Moore has cultivated a devoted audience of over 100,000 followers, and this exhibition offered a rare opportunity to encounter her work on a new and impactful scale.

Andrés Anza, an acclaimed Mexican ceramic sculptor, brought his celebrated sculptural practice to SUMA following his receipt of the prestigious Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. With numerous international solo exhibitions to his name, Anza continues to captivate audiences through his imaginative and emotionally resonant ceramic forms.

Creatures of the Soul invited viewers into a shared space of introspection and play. Through drawing and sculpture, Moore and Anza explored the inner landscapes of human experience—joy, sorrow, tenderness, and wonder—rendered as fantastical beings that feel both otherworldly and deeply familiar. The exhibition encouraged visitors not only to observe but to engage, reflecting on their own emotional worlds through these symbolic creatures. In this way, the show became a participatory narrative, fostering connection, empathy, and a renewed sense of our shared humanity.
